At Discoveries you’ll discover good quality pre-loved clothing, a unique treasure or that perfect gift. There is always a bargain to be found.

During these unprecedented times, understandably the Discoveries shopping experience has changed. Despite this, we are still striving to create a friendly and cheery atmosphere in the shop whilst adhering to social distancing. We are working hard to keep the shelves well stocked, maintaining a high standard of hygieneand a creating a safe place to work, volunteer and shop.

Income from Discoveries helps support local Youth and Community work, local and overseas Mission and helps St Peter's run the numerous groups which benefit the wider Yateley Community. We also support Mary’s Meals “Backpack Project” which provides school supplies to children in the world’s poorest communities, and Pilgrim Hearts Night Shelter in Bracknell.

Discoveries accepts the donation of a wide variety of items, such as good quality clothing and linen, electrical items, books, jewellery, toys, DVDs and bric-a-brac. We also accept shoes, clothing or leather items that are too worn to sell, as we can pass them on to our textile collection agents. We are unable to take any child car seats, booster seats, cots, crash/safety helmets or anything that requires a safety certificate. We are also unable to accept furniture, due to lack of storage space.

Discoveries has a new donation system starting June 2020. For safety reasons, we are now taking donations by appointment only. We kindly request that you call the shop on 01252 912765 to book a slot. (Phone line open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm). We will be able to take an average car boot load from each slot, and for safety reasons we will need all the items to be in sealed black bags or boxes so no items are donated loose. This is because we need to store the donations for 72 hours before handling any items.

If our donators are able, we encourage them to take part in our Gift Aid Scheme. If you are a UK taxpayer, every time we sell something belonging to you we can raise 25% more from the government through Gift Aid - at no cost to you! Signing up is easy and can be done over the phone when booking your donation slot, or in the shop by completing a simple form. We will then give you stickers with a unique number to tag your bag whenever you donate to us.

Discoveries is a wonderful place in which to work, and Sue and her team always welcome new volunteers. We have many varied positions available, from helping in the sorting room, working on the till or tidying the shop. If you would like to volunteer please pop in for an application form and a chat, we would love to have you.
