St Peter’s Church

For the weeks 8th and 3rd March 2020

Mothers` Union - Wednesday 11th March, 2pm in Oasis

Please note a change to the programme - please select a Bible verse, and bring along an item which illustrates this to sell in aid of our Overseas Fund.  Enrolment of new members on Sunday 29th March, 10am at the Centre congregation.  No meeting in April as it is Easter week.

St Peter’s Church Life Report 2019

This report will be published at the APCM in April and all St Peter’s groups are invited to contribute a brief review celebrating something from their activities from 2019, highlighting how they made a positive impact on members/the church/local community. We want to try and avoid simple facts about groups but rather make each contribution an interesting read, and we can also include a simple item from a member about what the group means to them.  Please keep to a maximum of 250 words per submission, and submit articles by Sunday 15th March to   Mark Vernon in the Parish Office.

Discoveries Pamper Evening - Thursday 19th March, 7-9pm

Tickets are now on sale in Discoveries, just £5 including cold refreshments and nibbles. Mingle with our wonderful group of pamper professionals. All treatments/samples/advice on the night will be free, with items available for purchase as well as exclusive shopping in Discoveries. Limited numbers, so get your tickets soon!

Children’s Society Boxes

A big thank you to all, we raised £855.82, our best ever! Ann Boxall

St Peter’s Electoral Roll

If you are over 16 years of age and are someone who considers themselves an active member of St Peter’s through your participation in worship services in Church, Yateley Centre and other aspects of the life of the local Church – then read on! St Peter’s holds a membership list (known as the Electoral Roll) for all who want to be identified with and support the life of the local church. If you are on this list then you are able to vote on decisions at the Annual Church Meeting due to be held on Sunday 5th April, as well as stand to be elected onto the PCC – the Board of Trustees of the church. Application forms to become a member are available in the Parish Office or on the website. Deadline for applications is Friday 27th March.

Easter Lilies

If you would like to buy an Easter Lily in remembrance of a loved one, please place the name(s) in an envelope together with £5 and a contact number, and hand to Meryl Branson (01252 864682) or the Parish Office. Final date for numbers is Monday 6th April.

Easter Monday Lunch – Monday 13th April

Following on from Christmas Day we are organising another lunch and would appreciate donations for our raffle, to include biscuits, sweets or toiletries. Please give to the Parish Office, or to Julie or Trevor Aylen.  Thanking you in advance!  Julie (07530 460803)

Church Safety

To ensure all those attending activities or services in Church are kept safe, it is important that all Emergency escape routes are kept clear of obstacles such as tables & chairs at all times.

Please also ensure that if you are the last to leave after an event, you make sure all external doors are locked securely from the outside. It is also recommended if you are in the church building on your own for any reason, that you lock the external doors to prevent any unauthorised access.

Easter Service Egg Hunt

Please bring your donations of wrapped mini eggs to the Parish Office by Thursday 9th April.

ECO Church Scheme

We didn’t know until recently about the Anglican Church’s 5 Marks of Mission. The fifth, which is very relevant to the # LiveLent 2020 course is: “To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”

The Church Times reported on 12th February: “C of E ‘to be carbon-neutral by 2030’ after Synod rips up original target”. The Anglican Church is taking environmental issues seriously.

Many people in St Peter’s will be doing something for the environment already. Together we could almost certainly do more and also be more effective, individually and as a church.

We have volunteered to find out, research and see how our actions can be coordinated, and look at what else we can do. So … two things for everybody to start with!

1. Let us know what you’re doing for the environment already. If several are doing the same thing, it may be possible to do it more efficiently together. Or, maybe, you’re the only person doing something, so we can all learn from you. What are you doing? Let us know at:

2. Sign up for the A Rocha Eco Church scheme: and follow the Eco Church button and register. You’ll find several of us already registered. Select: St Peter`s CoE Yateley.

The Eco Church scheme is mentioned in the #LiveLent 2020 40-Day Challenge and a number of nearby churches are already members.

There are lots of resources to use! More about A Rocha in the future. Are you concerned about environmental issues and would like to be involved? Let us know that as well.  Michael & Nicki Duncalfe.
